Question: How many people are actually taking a real interest in helping tackle drink spiking and date rape?

By 2 Love My Lips 27 September 2011 at 17:55

Answer: Not enough!

It’s only too simple to shy away from this horrific and ever so rising problem. The reality is that it needs to be addressed and more people need to be made aware and take responsible for their actions.

Somebody once said date rape is ‘100% avoidable’ fact of the matter is, it’s not. What gives one human the right to drug and take advantage of another? Unlike the UK, South Africa seem to have a laid back nonchalant approach towards drink-spiking, so much so, that there are actually no laws in place against drink-spiking or drug-rape.

South Africa are one of the highest countries  for drink-spiking and we are working with our offices over there to raise awareness and help combat this issue. We are distributing drink spike detector kits that will help people feel that little bit safer when they are out and about on the social scene.

Drink-spiking has left people paralysed, pregnant, suicidal, injured, robbed, scarred (mentally and physically) and many many more – either way, put people’s health at serious risk. It therefore accounts for a number of crimes.

There seems to be the old cynical view that alot of drink-spiking cases are just people getting far too drunk and not being able to handle their drink. We at 2 Love My lips are not about to sugar-coat the situation and state that this is completely untrue but stand by the fact that drink spiking and drug rape does happen, despite whether alcohol has been consumed or not.

We are working closely working with the Liverpool Royal  hospital, that state they get between 100-200 cases of suspected drink-spiking a week. Statistics show one in four women have had their drink spiked. We as a nation need to step up. Image if it was a family member, daughter, mother, sister? Join our stay safe campaign and help a worthy cause.

Stay Safe - Help Fight Drink Spiking

By 2 Love My Lips 12 September 2011 at 18:00

Drink-spiking is one of those crimes that people seem to want to ignore and shy away from.

It has become a massive global threat and affects every country you can mention in some way.

The problem is particularly rife in South Africa and America but the smaller countries such as Switzerland and of course, the UK, are also on the receiving end.

There seems to be a lack of awareness about this frightening crime which is where '2 Love my Lips' steps in and helps. Our company have launched the 'Stay Safe Campaign' which was set up to combat drink-spiking and also detect the problem before the damage is done.

Our very unique drink-spike detector strip can check for an array of the popular drugs used in drink-spiking such as Ketamine, Cocaine, Heroin and GHB.

Studies show that the main result of drink-spiking is rape. Although men are often targeted, women seem to be the more likely victim. Reports of sexual abuse, gang rape, theft and even death suggest the mental instability of these vicious perpetrators.

These people are an enormous threat to society and need to be prosecuted.

We recently discovered that although South Africa is heavily burdened with drink-spiking offences, there is no actual law against it.

Many cases all over the world go un-noticed due to many a reason. Some women have been too embarrassed to speak up which we think is reason enough to raise all this awareness.

Why should we feel in any way ashamed to report such a disgusting crime?

To feel that helpless and frightened and think that it is something we must just get on with? This attitude needs to be erased. Let’s give women, and men alike, the power to stay in control of mind and body. This is a basic human right that is being salvaged on a daily basis.

It needs to stop today! Find us on facebook Stay Safe -Help Fight Drink Spiking

We have recently launched a Stay Safe campaign that will help raise awareness on this matter, for more information on this or if you wish to  be involved please see attachment.
